What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 is a synthetic, stable pentadecapeptide (sequence: Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val) originally derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It exhibits remarkable physicochemical properties, including resistance to enzymatic degradation and acidic environments. In preclinical models, BPC-157 has been shown to modulate a broad range of cellular and molecular pathways, including the nitric oxide (NO) signaling system, angiogenic responses via VEGFR2, and antioxidant defense mechanisms. It has been observed to promote angiogenesis, stimulate granulation tissue formation, and accelerate extracellular matrix remodeling in models of skin, muscle, and gastrointestinal injury.
